With each inhalation and exhalation, come into the present moment and connect more deeply with the presence of the Divine.

Gazing is the act of allowing your eyes to become soft and receptive—it’s the opposite of staring.

• Begin by relaxing and allowing yourself to take in the whole image. 
• Receive the image and try not to put an interpretation or judgement on what you're seeing. Look with the "eyes of your heart." 
• Notice colors, shapes, light, textures, empty space, the feeling or energy in the piece.
• After you softly look at the image for a while, notice if you’re drawn to a particular portion of it. Let your eyes dwell there. Allow your awareness to gently take in both what you’re looking at and what’s going on inside of you.  
  • What’s stirring within you as you look at the image? 
    • Feelings
    • Reflections
    • Sensations
  • How is this speaking to you about your relationship with the Divine at this time, or your desired relationship with the Divine at this time?

• Spend time in conversation with the Holy. Heart to Heart. Listening to what wants to be revealed to you.

Is there a prayer that arising? Holy One, Heart of My Heart, however you want to address God, Spirit, the Divine--

Close your eyes for a few moments and see if a prayer arises. When you are done, allow yourself a few moments of silence, resting in the Sacred, simply being present.

After the practice, you may want to engage in journal writing to write about your visio divina experience.
