Tip 6: Comfort & Joy for the Holidays
Tip 6
Give presents that evoke comfort.
Comfort comes through the senses.
Give gifts …
- that feel good — a soft sweater, cashmere socks, a cozy robe
- that have a wonderful scent — lavender bubble bath, incense, cooking spices
- that bring the sounds of comfort and joy — a CD of favorite music, a wind chime, a recording of a novel or play
- that bring the tastes of comfort — a delicious jar of honey, a box of chocolate, an assortment of teas, a plate of homemade cookies.
- that delight the sight with comfort — a family photograph in a frame, a colorful scarf, a bouquet of flowers.
Awaken the gift of comfort and joy that is all around us, and readily received through our senses.
I gave a workshop last week, and had the participants list all the ways they get comfort. “Wow. There are so many ways to get comfort in a day,” said one participant after she shared her list with the group. Make your own list and tap into what gives you comfort & joy every day!
