Expressing Gratitude: Day 12
Expressing Gratitude: Day 12.
21 days of Gratitude: Awakening the Heart.
As I rode my bike through the park on my way to work, I noticed the beauty of a thousand dew drops creating a blanket of sparkling light on the grass, and I thought that’s what gratitude looks like in the world.
This morning, after praying with a psalm and writing in my gratitude journal, I read a reflection from Living in Gratitude on grateful seeing. Angeles Arrien states that “All the good intentions, prayers, good deeds, and kind words we have offered others are still with us: they cannont be taken away and this is a great source of encouragement.”
This sparked the idea that we must practice grateful seeing on ourselves. Can we pause and reflect on all the good intentions, prayers, good deeds and kind words we have offered others?
Be thankful to yourself for all you are and give and do. In the quiet of your heart, say Thank You, _______(your name). Thank you for ___________________________.
Genuinely, receive your own thanks, and from that heart of appreciation for yourself, you might hear the Spirit saying Thank You. Allow this reflection and gratitude for yourself to be a great source of encouragement.
