Living Into Surrendering: Rest
Living Into Surrendering: Day 10, Rest
I have decided to live into surrender more consciously for 21 days, and share the journey with others. I invite you to join me, for the benefit of your own peace, and the peace of those around you.
I am writing my post a little later today, because when I woke up this morning I didn’t have a good sense of what to write about. I needed to wait and listen to the deeper voice in my heart.
About noon, while I was riding my bike to the grocery store with my husband, I noticed that yesterday’s events where turning over in my mind–my tension at work, and my decision to make a change with one of my school placements.
My mind kept reviewing the day. And then it dawned onto me. It’s the Sabbath, a time of rest. Not only for the body, but for the mind.
Let your mind rest today, I said to myself. Let yourself rest from worry and doubt and anxiousness.
Yes, the invitation for living into surrendering today is to seek rest: in the body and in the mind.
I offer this invitation to you. Can you rest your worry and anxiousness for today?
I read this psalm when I woke up, and now I hear it more clearly. Let it speak to you. Listen with your heart.
Psalm 16
translation from Stephen MitchellUnnameable God, I feel you
with me at every moment.
You are my food, my drink,
my sunlight, and the air I breathe.
You are the ground I have built on
and the beauty that rejoices my heart.
I give thanks to you at all times
for lifting me from my confusion,
for teaching me in the dark
and showing me the path of life.
I have come to the center of the universe;
I rest in your perfect love.
In your presence there is fullness of joy
and blessedness forever and ever.–from A book of Psalms
When your mind starts spinning and worrying today, see if you can stop, take a deep breath, and say,“I rest in your perfect love. “
Give yourself the gift of the Sabbath, by resting your body and mind. And now, I’m going to take a nap, to rest and relax.
