Comfort Circle
I led a comfort circle last week at a women’s health conference. I enjoyed hearing the participants share different ideas they had for bringing more comfort into their daily lives, and wanted to pass along the suggestions.
Here’s what they said:
• turn off the cell phone for an hour and take an uninterrupted walk
• wake up a little earlier and have some alone time before starting the busy day
• get a soft blanket to wrap up in when lounging on the sofa
• tap into the power of love — in nature, with people, with the Divine
• take time every day to do something you really like to do (for the woman who share this her daily joy was running)
• listen to music
• light candles and have a soothing bath
• shut the door and have time out, even for five minutes
• enjoy the beauty and cozy feeling of your bed, prop up the pillows and lounge for a few minutes before getting up
What emerged from our comfort circle together was the need to incorporate little comforts throughout the day, and not let the need build up. Comfort is a way of nurturing ourselves, embracing our deepest selves with care and compassion. The women all agreed that the better they cared for themselves, the more they could care for those around them.
How could you bring more comfort into your daily life — starting in the morning?
