Grounded in Gratitude Day 2

Welcome to Day #2 of “Grounded in Gratitude” a five-part email series for restoring balance and renewing trust.

Reflection

In Living in Gratitude, educator and anthropologist, Angeles Arrien introduces us to the notion of grateful seeing.

She writes, “Grateful seeing is the ability to look first for what is good and

working in our lives without minimizing or denying the hardships or challenges that are also present.

This practice of grateful seeing—looking for the good—allows us to see the gift of love—given and received—that is present in our lives.” (pg. 211)

Grateful seeing can help us cultivate a grateful relationship to life. It can influence our perspective, and our perspective and perception are vital to deepening gratitude in our lives.

Practice:

allow your eyes to move around the space you’re in right now
and notice a person, place or thing
that fills you with gratitude

invite your eyes to settle on what you are drawn to
and with intention
breathe in gratitude for its presence in your life

notice what grateful seeing feels like
in your whole being (mind, body, emotions)

let yourself be filled
with the energy of gratefulness
for the gift of that person, place, or thing
in your life

breathe in gratitude,
and breathe out gratitude,
letting the presence of gratitude grow
within you and all around you

Journal Writing

In your journal, write about the person, place or thing you looked at with eyes of gratitude.

Living in Gratitude

Intentionally bring grateful seeing into your life today and see what happens.

Thank you for joining me in bringing more gratitude into the world.

Love,

Colette
