Rest, Renewal and Relaxation this Holiday Season
Rest, Renewal and Relaxation
I have decided that what I really need this holiday season is to take time to renew myself. It’s been a year filled with joys and sorrows, and lots of activity. Like many people, I am feeling a lot of uncertainty around me, too. Therefore, I have decided my holiday intention is to take time out to rest, relax, and fill myself with joy and gratitude.
I had my first taste of the holiday break on Friday, when I took the day off. I enjoyed taking time to read (finished a great novel), to swim (in a relaxed and leisurely way), to pray (without any agenda), and to enjoy an incredible exhibit at the modern art museum (which was so nourishing).
As I was drifting off to sleep that night, I realized how much I needed to renew myself, and decided that I would not pack the holidays with lots of things to do, but leave as much free time as possible, to reconnect to the things I enjoyed and that gave me deep fulfillment.
What restores you? Can you connect with the things that nourish your body and soul during the holiday break? Find ways to have this time give you the lasting gifts of rest, renewal and relaxation.
