The spirit of enjoyment
It’s summer and I’m letting myself take in the change of season. I’m a school librarian, so I am on break now. My usual tendency is to ‘account’ for my time and end a day with a sense of productivity. But something in me is pulling me in another direction. And I’m listening. There is a desire for discovery, for enjoyment, for reconnecting to the spirit in me that is curious and open and happy to be alive.
This week, I noticed how much I wanted to enjoy the world around me. I went to the beach and listened to the waves for hours. I rode my bike in the park and delighted in the all the flowers in bloom — in the deep purple irises, the hot pink roses, and the yellow lilies. I drank in the fresh air and reveled in the blue sky. I watched the hawks diving and the pelicans gliding.
I found myself falling in love with the world around me. The world is a beautiful place. People have beautiful faces. There’s an incredible energy to the pulse of creation. Enjoy it!
