Love really is something
After being awake in the middle of the night for a few hours, I was losing my patience. I got out of bed, had a light snack, and when I headed back to bed, my husband gave me a comforting hug and held me for a while. It was amazing how love felt so healing in that moment. My skin relaxed, my muscles softened, and my eyes closed, and in that moment, I was not tense or frustrated about not sleeping. Instead, I was fully held in the power of love.
A friend often tells me: Love Heals. And lately, I am finding that I can’t change many of the circumstances I am facing, but I can bring love to to my experiences, and in particular to the difficult ones.
Today, I was tired at work, and had to respond to five classes back-to-back in the morning. By lunch, I was exhausted, and had to put my feet up. I have a faithful volunteer who helps me daily with checking in the books, shelving them, and cataloguing new material. Her support and love made all the difference in my day.
Later in the day, I was fortunate to see the acupuncturist. As soon as I went into the office, I just cried with exhaustion. Her loving and caring presence was truly healing. And once again, I felt both physically and mentally better after the treatment.
We really are the presence and power of love in this world. It’s sounds like an overused phrase, but it’s never an overused practice. Yes, bring love forward–choose to care and give to yourself and others.
