A Bowl
Last week, when I was presenting my book, Comfort and Joy: Simple Ways to Care for Ourselves and Others, at a spirituality gathering, a woman said to me: ‘I like the way you describe comfort as an opening. We often think of comfort as only turning inward.’
I was struck by that comment. Yes, comfort is truly a circle, something that is both very intimate and personal, as well as something that is offered and given to others.

Cultivating Comfort
Comfort is both given and received, and like a bowl, you can be a vessel for that exchange. Are there bowls in your life that need to be emptied, in order to make more room for comfort to be received? Are there bowls in your life that need to be filled, so that you have more comfort to give?
