Living into Surrendering: Be Loved

Living into Surrendering, day 4.

How do I live into surrender, when I don’t feel good about myself right now? I fell into some habits yesterday, and overindulged when I was out with my husband and good friend for dinner. I woke up early this morning, feeling heavy in my body and spirit, with a sense of disappointment in myself.

Yes, I can trace how I fell into this behavior again– and the “again” brings a cartful of judgements and shame. And fortunately, I have tools like journal writing and talking to trusted people that will help me look at the roots of this more closely.

Yet, I ask myself: what can the orientation of surrender offer me right now, in this place of inner darkness and lack of self acceptance?

LOVE. Because no matter how low I feel at this moment, and how harshly I am judging myself, I still have faith and trust that I am loved. I am loved in the biggest, grandest, and most triumphant way by the Divine. I am held in love, all of me.

I am always accepted and loved and embraced by the sweetness of God. So this day, I offer living into surrendering, by letting myself be loved–in all my messiness, imperfection, and bad habits.

I find a way to pray–and for me, it was by attending mass this morning. I let God not reject me. I find a way to let God in, soft and compassionate.

Let yourself be loved and embraced today by the Divine. Let yourself be held in the light and love and compassion of God–no matter how you feel about yourself. God is much bigger (thank goodness).

Open your heart to love–no matter how you feel. The LOVE is bigger and healing.

Here’s a body meditation I used today that brought a great feeling of love into me. 

  • Sit or rest in a comfortable position.
  • Take a few deep breaths and settle into yourself.
  • Now bring the energy of love and compassion into your feet, using your attention and breath. Fill your feet with love.
  • Continuing to use your attention and breath, bring the energy of love into your legs, your back, your chest, your arms and your hands.
  • Now feel your face fill with love: your lips, cheeks, eyes, scalp.
  • Bring your attention to your heart, and feel your heart filling with love. Let all that love fill your heart and then radiate into your whole body and mind.  
  • Allow yourself to Be Loved.
