Receptivity

This week, demands, deadlines, disappointments have been piling up. I fall off my center. How do I maintain my receptivity to comfort in times like this? How can we all stay receptive to comfort in our lives?

Here’s a short list of ways to keep the channel of giving and receiving comfort alive in your life, regardless of the circumstances:

1. Be compassionate towards yourself
2. Accept yourself
3. Be patient with yourself
4. Say kind words to yourself

When you look at this list you will notice that the common factor is tenderness. Comfort is tender, loving, soothing. Treating yourself with tenderness will encourage comfort, and comfort will allow for more tenderness.

We are a conduit for giving ourselves and others comfort. The more we soften the tight grip we have on ourselves, the more we can open ourselves to the tenderness that comfort can offer us.
