Try these five simple tips for bringing more comfort and joy into your relationship:
#1: Take a moment to hug: A warm hug is an amazing source of comfort. Practice giving each other a hug when you first wake up in the morning. Hug again before you go to sleep. Make hugging a simple comfort ritual in your relationship.
#2: Practice listening and being listened to: Being listened to is a great source of comfort. In a calm and peaceful way, let your partner know that you need him to listen: not to solve your problem, or to give you advice, or fix the situation.
#3: Enjoy each other’s company: Pleasure and fun is important in a busy life. Set aside a time each week to enjoy each other’s company. Dance in the living room after the kids go to bed, make Thursdays your night to watch a movie together, listen to music you both like and relax in front of the fireplace.
#4: Practice gratitude: Become more conscious of all the little things your partner does for you. Begin saying ‘thank you’ and see how it will come back to you.
#5 Ask for comfort: Do you want a bouquet of flowers, a new hairbrush, or perhaps just more time together? Communicate your needs, and also ask your partner what he or she needs from you.
