Self Care Reflection

Lately, the way I am craving self care is to have unstructured time. I like to have an hour, half a day, or even a whole day, in which I have no plans or expectations on myself. It is comforting to deeply listen to myself, and listen to what I am needing right now.

The ways you practice self care respond to your current needs. If your life is too slow, then practicing self care might involve planning more activities for yourself. If your life is too busy, then slowing down might be the best way to practice self care.

What kind of self care are you longing for? What would comfort you?

If you aren’t quite sure then take the time to listen to yourself. Keeping a journal, talking to a trusted person, or sitting quietly in reflection are all ways to help you listen more deeply to yourself. Many times, I need to feel more relaxed in order to become more receptive to my deeper self. I like to use body relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices. I have the found the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn to be very helpful.

Can you listen to your deepest self, and take the necessary steps to give this gift to yourself and others in your daily life?

What is a self care practice you can bring into your life right now that would deeply comfort you? Let’s hear it — We’re listening.
